He began working for Wendy’s International in 1977. After working his way up the company ranks, he moved to Clarksville in 1988, to work for Wendy’s of Bowling Green – a franchise operating 18 locations at the time. In 1990, he became a principal partner in the business and helped it grow to 57 locations in 4 states, with over 2,000 employees. Mike became Senior Partner and CEO in 2012. Recent expansion includes the acquisition of the Huntsville AL market.Mike is past Chairman of the APSU Foundation, is a member of the APSU Tower Club and the APSU Athletics Red Coat Society. Governor Bill Haslam appointed Mike to serve on APSU’s first Board of Trustees, the governing body for APSU, and Mike currently serves as the Chair of the Board.Mike has served as President of Leadership Clarksville, was Chairman of the Clarksville-Montgomery Health Foundation, and he has served on numerous other boards, often holding leadership positions.Mike has been inducted into the Wendy’s Hall of Fame, an honor extended to one franchisee worldwide annually. The franchise has received the Dave Thomas Founder’s Award, presented to the top franchise in North America, and the franchise has received the Jim Near Legacy Award, presented annually to the North America franchise with the best employee programs.Mike has also been active within the Wendy’s corporate structure. He has served on the Wendy’s National Advertising Committee, as a member and as President. He currently serves on the Board for the Wendy’s PAC, and he was appointed last year to serve on the Board of Directors for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The DTFA funds Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiters who work full-time on finding permanent loving homes for children waiting in foster care. Mike’s franchise raises over $200,000 annually for the DTFA. The franchise also sponsors the Wendy’s High School Heisman Awards Program, where every high school senior is eligible to nominate himself or herself for college scholarships.Mike and his wife, Jane, reside in Clarksville. Their sons, Ryan and Shawn, work for the Wendy’s franchise in leadership positions. Mike and Jane have two granddaughters.William Kimbrough was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is married to Besty Hay Kimbrough and has three grown children Bill (Michelle), Josslyn, and Jim. He has two granddaughters, Liz and Ella.William is owner of Modern Heating, Cooling, Roofing, Inc., Board member of the Clarksville Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission, Past president of the Tennessee Association of Roofing Contractors, Past member of the Vestry for Trinity Episcopal Church, and member of the Bluewing and Sailors Rest hunting clubs.
